Say ‘I do’ to palatial grandeur

For one of the most romantic, memorable experiences of your lifetime, it seems only fitting to say your vows within the palatial splendour of Old Palace Chester. Spend precious moments with your closest family and friends as you prepare for the day ahead, before marrying in this magnificent private house in the heart of the historic city overlooking manicured gardens and the banks of the River Dee.

Within this exceptional venue, you’ll find many outstanding civil ceremony spaces to choose from – our light-filled River Room to the grand Ballroom. Alternatively, you might choose a religious ceremony at St Johns Church.

Exclusively yours and with everything under one roof, you will relax in the knowledge that your day will be meticulously planned and taken care of, as your guests arrive to celebrate your marriage.

The Morning Room

Just for you, at Old Palace Chester, our dressing room awaits. A dedicated wedding dressing room with hair and make-up stations, full length mirror, luxurious shower room and ample space to relax.

It’s a secluded hideaway, found at the top of a private staircase situated above the River Room. Gaze out of the windows to see guests arriving for your special day.

The River Room

Formerly the chapel of the Bishop’s palace, The River Room seats up to 110 guests for your civil ceremony and is filled with natural light, its long aisle drawing you towards a bay window looking out on to a secret garden. Elegantly neutral décor, statement chandelier lighting down the central aisle and floor to ceiling curtains create a demure ambience.

Meanwhile, the imposing Ballroom seats up to 150 beneath its lavish chandeliers and mirrored ceiling. With original architecture, contemporary style and a neutral colour scheme, it’s the perfect setting upon which to impart your own touches.
