Say ‘I do’ to modern luxury

For one of the most romantic, memorable experiences of your lifetime, there’s nothing like tying the knot at Old Palace Chester. Spend precious moments with your loved ones as you get ready before making your way to the River Room or picturesque Garden Terrace to exchange your vows.

You’ll find a number of beautiful ceremony spaces to choose from at Old Palace Chester. The light-filled River Room is a dedicated ceremony room, while the Ballroom is ideal for larger gatherings. If you’d prefer to soak up your surroundings when you say ‘I do’ then the Garden Terrace is just the place. It’s peaceful and private, with views over the river and fields as your backdrop.

There are plenty of churches in and around Chester too if you’d prefer a religious ceremony. The impressive Church of St John the Baptist is just a few steps away, so perfectly located for celebrating the rest of your day at Old Palace Chester.

Within this exceptional venue, you’ll find many outstanding civil ceremony spaces to choose from – our light-filled River Room to the grand Ballroom. Alternatively, you might choose a religious ceremony at St Johns Church.

Exclusively yours and with everything under one roof, you will relax in the knowledge that your day will be meticulously planned and taken care of, as your guests arrive to celebrate your marriage.

The Morning Room

This dedicated dressing room is yours to use as you wish before your ceremony, with hair and make-up stations, a full-length mirror, luxurious shower room and ample space to relax. It’s a secluded hideaway, found at the top of a private staircase above the River Room, where you can gaze out of the windows to see guests arriving for your special day.

The Palace Suite, our breathtaking honeymoon suite, is also yours to use from midday, and its spectacular windows and luxurious décor make it the ideal place to capture photos just before making our way down to the ceremony. We also make an additional bedroom available from midday so that your partner has plenty of space to prepare too.

The River Room

Formerly the chapel of the bishop’s palace, the River Room seats up to 110 guests for your civil ceremony and is filled with natural light, its long aisle drawing you towards a bay window looking out to a secret garden. Chic décor, statement chandelier lighting down the central aisle and floor to ceiling curtains create an elegant yet neutral ambience.

Meanwhile, the Ballroom seats up to 150 beneath its impressive chandeliers and mirrored ceiling. With original architecture, contemporary style and a neutral colour scheme, it’s the perfect setting upon which to impart your own touches.
